Beckstedt & Associates Wins Two Defense Verdicts: One in Arbitration and One at Trial

While Attorney Beckstedt awaited a jury verdict in a mandatory, court-appointed criminal defense trial, he got word from his office that he had just won an arbitration hearing in a personal injury premises liability case. The Arbitrator held no liability, finding no duty because the alleged unsafe condition, a pothole, was know, open and obvious. Later that night, the jury returned a defense verdict in the criminal trial on all counts. In the Virgin Islands all members of the bar are required to accept criminal appointments. At Beckstedt & Associates, we view this professional responsibility as an opportunity to keep our trial skills sharp and also to foster our working relationships with the trial court judges and their law clerks.
